The aim of Brushstroke Studios is to teach students of all ages art through the exploration of many mediums. Art History is incorporated in lessons and techniques are explored. The students are taught techniques and the use of specific mediums and they are encouraged to create their own individual works of art. Students will explore such subjects as drawing, painting, sculpture, fibre art, printmaking, colour theories, perspective, shading and explore artists as Barbara Reid, Eric Carle, van Gogh, the Impressionists, the Group of Seven, Ted Harrison, Picasso, the Expressionists and various other artists as they fit into the curriculum.
Children and Youth Classes (ages 6 years to 19 years)
During the school year instruction will consist of one hour lessons. Depending on the age and ability of the student he/she may have lessons alone or in small groups. The costs of materials are covered in the cost of classes.
The year is divided into three terms. You can sign up for one term or all three. The art curriculum is for an entire school year. You may pay monthly or by term. Sabrina Wakfer, the owner and teacher at Brushstroke Studios, is a registered Nova Scotia Teacher. She has qualifications to teach both elementary school and fine art. Sabrina holds an Honours B. A. In Fine Art and Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario. She also holds certifications in Special Education and Early Childhood Education. She has sold her art works in both Ontario and Nova Scotia.
